“BOOK OF THE YEAR”

The annual “Book of the Year” national competition was established by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication in 1999 with the aim to support Russian book industry, to encourage the best examples of book art and printing as well as to popularize reading in Russia .

“Book of the Year” is to assist the promotion of Russian book culture traditions, the rise of significance of book in mass consciousness, the popularization of modern tendencies in book design and the development of theme trends in Russian book industry.

The competition became the first-rate event for Russian publishers out of a modest ceremony, known by a very narrow circle of book publishers.

Publications, received by the competition committee, are viewed in 10-12 nominations: “Prose of the Year”, “Poetry of the Year”, “Debut”, “Growing up with Books”, “Textbook of the XXI Century”, “HUMANITAS”, “Art-Book”, “Printed in Russia”, “Book of the Year” ...
