“UNIQUE BOOK” WILL WARM FEBRUARY

On February 4-7 the IInd “Unique Book” Exhibition will take place in the exhibition hall of the Moscow Government in Novy Arbat Street. Its main theme – “A Book as a Piece of Art, its History and Today”. It is supposed that in the role of exponents will be not only publishers but also the owners of private collections, miniature-book amateurs, restorers, second-hand booksellers, antiquarians, bookbinders, illustrators… They will present rarities, monuments of the book art, original contemporary editions. In the frames of the exhibition there will be held master-classes and the presentations of collections, projects, meetings with unique book creators etc.

THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE "UNIVERSITETSKAYA KNIGA" MAGAZINE

The 150th anniversary edition of the “Universitetskaya kniga” magazine was published.

This magazine is used to be a traditional information partner of Moscow International Book Fair.

“Universitetskaya kniga” reports about book fairs in Russia and all over the world, raises important questions as far as publishing, libraries and modern technologies are concerned.

"IMAGE OF THE BOOK" ALL-RUSSAIN BOOK ILLUSTRATION CONTEST.THE SECOND SEASON

The Grand Presentation of the Awards to Winners of the Second All-Russian Book Illustration Contest “Image of the Book” will take place during the 22d Moscow International Book Fair (All-Russian Exhibition Center, September 2-7, 2009) The “Image of the Book” All-Russian Book Illustration Contest is organized for the second time by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications (Rospechat) and Book Drawing Section of the Moscow Union of Artists. The contest is aimed at finding new talented works of book drawing, supporting professional illustrators, including young ones,  and prolongation of wonderful traditions in Russian book illustration art. Artists-illustrators, publishers and publishing organizations, professional newspapers and magazines as well as creative unions are able to nominate candidates for the contest. "BOOK OF THE YEAR" THE 11TH NATIONAL COMPETITION

The Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication announces the receiving of publications for the 11th national competition «Book of the Year». The publications for «Book of the Year» competition are being accepted from the May 25 to August 1, 2009. 22 MIBF: THE NEW PAVILION – THE OLD PRICES

22 Moscow International Book Fair (September 2-7, 2009) will be this year in the new pavilion of the All-Russia Exhibition Centre (VVTS). After 32 years of successful work in the Pavilions ## 57 and 20 the major Russian book forum is moving into the newly built Pavilion # 75 differing from its predecessors with its comfort and sizes. MIBF Organizing Committee and the management of GAO VVTs have agreed about the mutually acceptable principles of the Fair (which is the major engine of the book business industry) conducting. For the exponents the cost of participation in rubles will stay on the level of the previous years. The rumors that the prices have been increased in 3 times are false. The Organizing Committee makes everything to support both publishers and readers. For the readers  a number of discounts and additional possibilities of the Fair visiting will be offered. The students of the book business industry, children up to 10 years old, disabled people of 1 and 2 groups,  the Great Patriotic War participants ( and equal to it armed conflicts) will obtain the right to visit the 22MIBF free of charge. For the pensioners and 3group disabled people the discounts are offered. For the other book amateurs will be offered the tickets for one and two-days 22 MIBF attendance of moderate prices, that means the possibility to give your ticket to a friend, neighbor and visit the Fair one more time.

INDIA – 22 MIBF GUEST OF HONOUR

22MIBF Organizing Committee started the creation of cultural-business programme of the Fair promising to be very rich and captivating. Undoubtedly , the major interest will be evoked by the display of the Republic of India. Recent negotiations of the Organizing Committee with the representatives of the National Book Trust of India and Indian Embassy in RF concerning the project of the agreement  on the participation of India as the Guest of Honour of the 22MIBF showed that the intentions of the Indian colleagues are very serous. In their plans – to build in the central part of the pavilion 3 75 the combined stand of Indian publishers on the square of 800 sq.m by the middle of June they are going to form their creative work plan during the 22MIBF. According to the preliminary information one of the main points of the mutual Indian-Russian discussion will be the theme of children’s and family reading, the policy of the management of the country and its regions, the projects of mutual editions. In the frames of the mutual business programme  will be organized the series meetings of Russian authors and translators with Indian colleagues, as well as the seminars devoted to subjects: women –authors, Indian authors translations in India, and Russians – in India. Philosophy and religion, scientific-technical literature, medical editions, book illustrators work exhibition, concert programme, special division named “Indian Cinema” – this is not completed list of themes featured by the organizers of the Indian stand preliminary. The initiator of the cultural programme will be Djavaharlal Neru Centre in Moscow.

Russian publishers will present their new books on the united stand of Russian Federation. The General Directorate of Book Exhibitions and Fairs is going to be the organizer.

The time for the press-conference devoted to the 12th National Book Fair “Books of Russia” has been changed.

The press-conference devoted to the 12th National Book Fair “Books of Russia” will take place on March, 5, 2009, Thursday, at 14 p.m.

The press-conference venue is 5, Strastnoy Blrd, Moscow, the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication, 3d floor, conference hall. Organizers - the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication and SE General Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs.

ALL THE OPORTUNITIES ARE OPENED FOR THE YOUTH

For the first time free of charge will become the visit to the National Book Fair “Books of Russia” for all students and schoolchildren. Such present was made by NBF Organizing Committee in commemoration of the Year of Youth in Russia.

From March 11th to March 16th, 2009 the entrance to the Pavilion 57, the venue of NBF is free of charge upon presentation of student card, schoolchildren’s plastic card or just ordinary schoolchildren’s diary.

"AROMA OF THE BOOK COVER" AT "BOOKS OF RUSSIA"

The unique bibliophilic album-catalogue by M.V. Seslavinsky “Aroma of the Book Cover”. Bibliophiles can find domestic individual book-binding of the XIX-XX centuries at the 12th National Book Exhibition/Fair “Books of Russia” at stabd F-45.
